Peace
Peace is a small business in downtown Frederick. The store recently opened and it’s located at 118 E. Patrick St. People can take time to relax while journaling and making floral arrangements. The store is full of candles and essential oils and all are welcome to enjoy the well-lit atmosphere. This small, quaint shop is a calm environment for anyone who wants a soothing experience. It is a self-care store for the mind, soul, and body. A visit to Peace means you can take a step back from life and truly enjoy the moment with some meditation.
Jerk N’ Jive
The Jerk ‘N Jive is a black-owned and operated Caribbean restaurant with a wide variety of food. It opened on August 28, 2020. The menu has something for everyone, even traditional food like Trinidad’s Veggie Soup: a plate of jerk chicken, with rice, plantains, carrots, and green beans or Callaloo. They use fresh ingredients and authentic spices for all of their handcrafted meals. It is located in downtown Frederick at 911 N East St B.
Taharka
Taharka Brothers Ice Cream started out as a non-profit organization called Sylvan Beach Foundation back in 1993. Founders Sean Smeeton and Melanie Andreen began the organization after some experiences with youth in the Baltimore City housing projects. In 2009, Taharka Brothers Ice Cream moved to its current location in Baltimore City at 3515 Clipper Mill Road. They are constantly updating and changing their menu to keep up with their customers’ tastes and are focused on helping the community by inspiring others to follow their dreams.
Drama MaMa Bookshop
The Drama MaMa Bookshop is a small, unique shop that welcomes everyone. Alisa Brock, the owner of the bookshop, started her notebook company in a bedroom she was renting. After only two years, the business grew exponentially. The detail in their products is apparent from the second you get one, especially since they are handmade. The shop has jewelry, pens, pencils, and even some home decor. It is located at 1427 Light Street, Studio #202, Baltimore, MD 21230.
