Athletes of the Week By Grace Galanis

Maya Graham is the varsity lacrosse athlete for the week of April 1-8. She was awarded this because of her high performance on the field. In the past two games, she has had 7 goals, 5 assists, and 6 draw controls. Maya’s performance this week was nothing out of the ordinary for her, she is always racking up those stats. She is the third-highest scorer in Frederick County with 41 goals. In the future, Maya will be attending Xavier to play lacrosse. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Gavin Prunty is the varsity lacrosse athlete for the week of April 1-8. He was awarded this because of his positive attitude on and off the field. In addition to his on-field performance which has greatly contributed to the Vikings’ success. His coach shared, “Gavin received high praise from Park’s School’s coach for his on-field performance and great sportsmanship”. He finished the game with 2 goals and 1 assist. We can’t wait to see what the season holds for Gavin and the rest of the Vikings.

Grace Galanis is the varsity lacrosse athlete for the week of April 15-22. She was awarded this because of her high performance on the field as a lockdown defender. Coach Ponch said this about Grace, “she was assigned to defending AACS’s leading scorer, Grace held her SCORELESS, while also scoring two goals and picking up 2 GBs, and 2 CTOs in a 17-6 Viking win, she again was assigned Indian Creek’s leading scorer, Grace held her to one goal in another Viking Victory.” In the future, Grace will be attending Liberty University to play lacrosse. Way to go Grace.

Emilia Tippett is the varsity lacrosse athlete for the week of April 29- May 5. Coach Ponchione shared that “Emilia has 10 goals over the last three IAAM games.” She is a junior transfer and has already made a huge impact. Emilia always has a great attitude and lifts her teammates up. Keep up the awesome play Emilia.
