The Met Gala, the most important fashion event of the year, is filled with the most prominent celebrities, the most proficient designers and their most remarkable designs, representing them and their conception of the event’s theme. Previous themes have been, “ Camp,” 2019; “About Time: Fashion and Duration,” 2020; “Gilded Glamour,” 2022; and the last one in 2023, “ Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” This theme was meant to honor the amazing German designer, after he passed away in 2019. The Met Gala event is about presenting appreciation, creativity and community within the fashion industry and designers of all kinds, represented by well-known athletes, actors, singers, politicians, influencers and more. This year’s theme is, “ Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” This theme is extremely exciting because of the amazing potential it has to look back through decades, and centuries into the present for this important event. Forgotten fashion trends, history and the true beauty within it will be brought back to be cherished and emphasized in a remarkable way.
Some ways the theme of “ Reawakened Beauty,” will be portrayed will be through beauty in nature, forgotten fashion trends, beauty within history and many more. Designers like Vivienne Westwood, Louis Vuitton, Versace and Oscar De la Renta are the most prominent designers seen every year. These designers and their designs are so important because of the lack of attention brought to the true art and beauty behind fashion. Fashion can be thought of as many forms of art brought into one – architecture, hue, chroma, value, shape, shading, and design all in one. Fashion is such an amazing concept and perhaps something we all have, as we all wear clothes every day. Boring or not it’s fashion, it is how we express ourselves and it is special.

The stunning yellow color along with the cultural, magical designs represent the theme so well. 2019’s Met Gala theme “Camp” was up to interpretation. The theme strongly revolved around creativity, perception, ideology and individuality. All of the looks were personal to the celebrity who took inspiration from their past experiences and idea of camp. Harry Styles’ look is so appreciated because of the hidden detail and beauty within his outfit.
