Start of Spring Sports By Manny Ryser

Girls Lacrosse: Coming off of a championship, the girls’ lacrosse team has a lot of upside and will have eyes on them this season. They have had plenty of close wins including two, 1 point wins over Bullis and Holy Cross. These girls will definitely be in contention for their conference championship.

Boys Lacrosse: The 2022 MIAA Champs hope to bring the plaque back home to SJCP with new transfers and plenty of talent. They recently beat St. Vincent Palotti 13-12 and Concordia Prep 20-19. They have all the pieces they need to get the championship and have plenty of potential for years to come.

Baseball: With a tough 10-5 opening game loss to Good Counsel (ranked #7 in MD), the Vikings have some upside and have great potential for this season. Speaking of upside, they recently won their ‘Celtic Cup’ with two impressive wins. One over Avalon 9-3, and the other over St. Andrews 17-0, where Ryan Finniff and Tommy Ayers threw a combined no-hitter.

Softball: The softball team has been great so far this year, winning both games at their recent tournament. They add to the plethora of spring sports with a positive path. With Kate DelGrippo on the mound, they have been very successful and will continue to impress.

Track: After a great indoor track season, the outdoor track season begins. Although the season has not begun, we can expect promise from plenty of athletes.
