Spring Activities By Josie Patil

Between March-May there is a transition between the end of winter and the beginning of summer. This time in between brings warmer weather, blooming flowers, and animals out of hibernation. The dramatic change of seasons brings many activities to enjoy and time to appreciate the growing nature all around.

Big White Barn

There are multiple flower fields all around the United States! Specifically in Maryland, there are a ton but the three most popular are Big White Barn, Valley View Acres and Sunflower Farm. The Big White Barn is a favorite, located in our school’s local Buckeystown. It is only open on weekends and offers pre-made flower jars and arrangements and an opportunity to cut your own flowers. Besides flower fields, there are also beautiful cherry blossoms in Washington D.C., which are at their prime between the end of March and the beginning of April. This is a very popular activity because Washington, D.C. offers so many other things to do in addition to appreciating the cherry blossoms, such as their botanical gardens, historical monuments and many shopping and eating opportunities!

Besides visiting the blooming plants, there are also lots of activities and opportunities that are available because of the warm weather. These could be as simple as taking a walk in Baker Park to hiking up Sugarloaf Mountain. Good weather is crucial for enjoying and exercising outdoors.

Springtime is an opportunity to appreciate the nice breeze, the rain and the warmth before it gets overly hot in the summer. It’s also a time to see the change in trees, growing of plants and overall naturalistic scenes in their prime blooming state. There are many more activities to

participate in based on your interests and preferences, which you could easily move to taking place outside! Spring ends on June 20th, make the most of it!
